Due to its excellent capability to penetrate the skin, glycolic acid is used to improve the skin’s appearance and texture. It reduces fine lines & wrinkles, acne scarring, hyperpigmentation, actinic keratosis, hyperkeratosis, and seborrheic keratosis. It reacts with the upper layer of the epidermis to weaken the binding properties of the lipids which hold cells together. This allows the dead cells of the stratum corneum to be exfoliated to expose healthy and living skin cells.
