Depigmentation is a condition that occurs when the skin loses its pigment, causing unintentional lightening of the skin. Depigmentation of the skin can be caused by a number of local and systemic conditions. The pigment loss can be caused by injury to the skin or by vitiligo. One of the helpful treatments we offer to alleviate hyperpigmentation is via advanced laser techniques. Our lasers functions by emitting a monochromic, high-intensity, coherent energy that is absorbed by water, hemoglobin, and melanin in the skin called chromosphores. Its wavelength determines the depth of the energy’s penetration and which chromosphores to target. The energy absorption then destroys the chromophores that are causing the depigmentation.
